Instead of fussing with wicks, use the wick pin and put in a pre-tabbed wick (or waxed wick) after the candle comes out of the mold.

To use, place in votive mold and pour wax. When candle is ready, lift candle out of mold, remove wick pin and insert pre-tabbed wick.
